JANITOR/CUSTODIAN  JOB DESCRIPTION

Janitor Duties & Responsibilities

Janitors are often  called on to perform an ever-changing variety of tasks in addition to routine maintenance and cleaning duties. On a typical   day a janitor's tasks might include:

• Emptying trash cans
• Cleaning restrooms and keeping them stocked with supplies
• Locking doors and securing rooms and buildings
• Sweeping, vacuuming and washing floors
• Shampooing carpets and polishing floors as needed
• Washing windows and mirrors
• Shoveling snow, raking leaves and mowing lawns, depending on the season
• Managing cleaning supply inventory
• Cleaning and maintaining the parking lot appearance as directed
• Working the mutually agreed upon weekly schedule as outlined by the client
• Perform all duties as assigned based on the client directives within the scope of the role

These positions are primarily facility based and assigned under the direction and guidance of the

client leadership or designated management.
