ALL TEMPS 1 PERSONNEL CLASS A CDL JOB DESCRIPTION

Class A Truck Driver Responsibilities

• Be able to drive and successfully operate a vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.
• Pick up loads, verify for accuracy, and deliver on time
• Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs
• Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit
• transport goods, livestock, etc. from the place of origin to assigned destination
• Pickup loads and organize goods in an ordered, logical manner
• Ensure contents are properly secured and unload goods at selected destinations
• Maintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)
• Track and report working hours
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditions
• Comply with ICC and DOT regulations
• Accurately complete paperwork
• Load and unload various types of cargo safely
• Drive safely in various conditions, including heavy traffic and inclement weather
• Inspect vehicle before departure; perform basic truck maintenance when necessary
• Follow schedule and rest when necessary
• Be able to read maps and follow directions to a location
• Guaranteed weekly work 
• Regional distances with occasional longer hauls 

Skills Needed to be a Class A Driver

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Valid Class A drivers license required
• 2 years proven experience with tractor trailer driving preferred
• Clean driving record with no moving violations
• Must pass a background check and drug test
• Comfortable maneuvering and parking a tractor trailer
• Be able to repeatedly lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Drive for long periods of time safely
• Self-motivated and reliable
• Able to read maps and GPS
• Customer service skills
• Good knowledge of roads and direction, traffic laws, and DOT regulations
• Pallet jack, electric lift, hand trucks and etc. experience
• Physically and mentally fit
• Make safety a priority at all times
